Do I go to Microsoft help (the help function on the menu when I'm in IE?) first - i.e. http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2097170/browsers-work-connection.html Did anyone else have a similar issue?

You should select a restore point date on when your browsers worked fine then your PC shall do the rest.

Let's take care of each other.....I know I'll finally do my share!!! I use Firefox "Out of the Box" and, because of your problem, tried out Opera. Thanks, i had a strange problem where internet would work perfectly with Firefox with a proxy set but IE not at all in a business environement. Thanks for pointing out Option 3, you saved me some time.
Turned off Windows Firewall. I ran WinSockFix at that location, reset the TCP/IP settings, and tried the browsers again without success, though moving the laptop back to the office, the browsers worked. Edited 3 Years Ago by JorgeM: Please do not include non-relevant links in your post.
