Solved: NVIDIA GeForce 6200 AGP Video Adapter New Fan Needed

Thanks, Ian kurt18947May 5th, 2012, 02:35 PMHere's a list of currently supported Nvidia chipsets: http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/1.0-9755/README/appendix-a.html A cursory search of AGP cards shows the newest Nvidia AGP cards have Geforce 6200 chipsets. After I do that, the default S3 drivers just automatically reinstall... I've been running plain Ubuntu now on and off, since Warty Warthog, whatever year that was in, and with an occasional dip into Kubuntu. This webpage came up in Google. I don't do gaming so extreme speed is not a concern.I previously bought MS Win 7 operating system that could be loaded on 2 PC's and the upgrade from Vista to https://forums.techguy.org/threads/solved-nvidia-geforce-6200-agp-video-adapter-new-fan-needed.909321/

The biggest problem you may encounter is the fan mounting "spokes" will not align with the holes in the heatsink. I'm not familiar with html5, and don't know which sites use it. Granted, the heat-sink you applied may be large enough for your passive air flow. Nvidia never includes the letters PCI after the 6200 when I look at their website's products section.

Sorry to be so negative, but I can't offer a good solution. With 1~2 case fans, I have AMD quad core CPUs overclocked to 3.4Ghz that still idle in the mid-30s and barely pass 40c on full power. But you can also buy a new 6200AGP with a fanless cooler for about $35. The second big change was that I was immediately met with a dialogue saying updates are available, which I naturally agreed to get, thinking that the new desktop packages maybe needed

The only other graphics chip vendor I'd consider would be Intel but for whatever reason I don't recall ever seeing an Intel video card. It arrived on time, installed without a hitch, and I was back in business in 15-30 min. You could also use epoxy glue to secure the "spokes" to the heatsink, however if you use epoxy and later need to replace the fan again epoxy if very hard to You've given me a lot to go on, and that helps me toward a good solution, thanks much for that, Helltech.Best,Ahh-nuts HelltechMay 10, 2011, 9:05 AM I'm am by no means

The Jaton 3DForce Xe card Just Worked! I'll go looking now though. :) Edit: They all seem to have those noisy fan things attached though! I did not want to sink a lot of $ into this old computer, so I ordered this video card which was a slightly newer/upgraded version from my original. Join our site today to ask your question.

HelltechMay 10, 2011, 9:25 AM Ahh I see it did come in a PCI flavor, as did a lot of old cards, originally it was AGP however. http://newwikipost.org/topic/iQMbTOAQuDF16o6R7UuNmkeZeznd3ZAc/Problem-Nvidia-Geforce-6200.html Xfer Windows Emai Messages... AGP is an older video card slot format no longer used in newer computers. this content Ive tried PowerStrip on my 7900GT and it works with the desktop but i... I do not have any experience to help you, except of the one card I've recently bought very cheaply off eBay, just to run Unity. Ahh-nutsMay 10, 2011, 9:22 AM I found this at http://nvidiagraphicscards.com/nvidia-geforce-6200-pci-information.phpWow! Lubuntu is very fast, and I've no complaints there, but there seems to be so much missing, both bling and tools, that I'm thinking of trying something else. weblink momistMay 26th, 2012, 03:02 PMThanks MrKappa, that one had slipped by me.

Time for some drastic action. Memory Interface 128-bit 64-bit Fill Rate 1.2 billion texels/sec. 1.4 billion texels/sec. I'll report back when the stable release comes out and I've tried it fully installed.

Should I have left the CMOS as it was?

The 6200 chipset is currently supported by Nvidia but I don't know what features are supported. Learn more about Amazon Prime. Ahh-nutsMay 10, 2011, 9:31 AM Yes, I understand about the card info, and thanks. I'm not sure how old my video card actually is, since I bought it used to solve a similar issue about three years ago, but reviews indicate it dates from 2003.

You may be frying video cards from undervolting. Still running some super hot P4 or AMD64? My choice of video card is restricted by both the motherboard which offers only PCI or AGP, and by my very strong preference for a video card which does not have check over here Compiler, Mar 25, 2010 #12 Alex Ethridge Joined: Apr 10, 2000 Messages: 8,799 What are you doing that requires the cover off?Click to expand...

ATI's linux support for older cards doesn't have an enviable reputation though i have no firsthand experience with newer ATI.
