Same issue as everyone else. There are no SATA and IDE optical drives, so if you have a PATA (IDE) connector and PATA power port for your new DVD drive, then it does not usually have I would assume the IDE to SATA adapter is not working correctly. Look on the Motherboard, do you see an IDE (aka) ATA or PATA port? (see photo) If so, get an IDE cable and plug that into the back of the DVD We live in an extremely dusty area (construction) so I'll be repeating the process on all the Macs.Thanks again. It is a very simple and easy thing to check where the jumper is set and if you have an IDE controller.
Have been having the same problem for 2 years, now it's solved. I almost gave up, but I tried one more time. Worst to worst, Ill boot into my windows to do a large transfer if I really have to. Dma Mode Windows 10 Did the trick for me too!
